Had this exact same thing on my current car (not Honda) and owned for a few years. It's from people standing on the door sill to clean the roof with one hand down putting there weight onto the roof whilst the other hand is rubbing.
Found out it's common on the now popular car washes and witnessed them doing it.

Might not be your problem but that is another possibility.

I'll take and post pictures of mine the wife done on the bmw if you can see them but they are there and identical to yours.

Hi Slowdriver51

Would it be possible for you to change your settings so you can receive "PM's (personal message)

You will need to go into "user control panel" to do it.

We could then speak "face to face" about this serious matter.

I am glad I am not the only person with this problem..
HRV 1.5 SE. regd.2015 orchid white...I reported this problem to Honda after approximately 6--8 months ownership..both sides roof-to-door sections had varying surface dents appearing..the problem was addressed with a visit to the body repair shop and delivered back to myself, looking as it should.
This has been fine up until I took it back for its 3 year service, where it was noticed that the dents (rippling) had returned in all the same areas.
After consulting the dealership I was told that it was no longer a Honda warranty problem as it had already been rectified. ??? They in turn approached the repair centre where it had previously been repaired, with the reply that this problem was not a repeat of the same fault, but was damage from an external source. This is definitely NOT the case. I wash and clean the vehicle myself, and have never had a problem before, so no outside influences apply regarding damage from washing etc.
This is my 10th Honda, and as I was a Honda Master Technician for 21 years prior to my retirement, I do know what I am talking about, and this just seems to be a case of burying their heads in the sand regarding an obvious fault. Maybe its time for a change !
I have contacted Honda Customer service today regarding this event, but as yet no reply.

I had this within the first few months of having my HRV. I noticed 3 or 4 indentations along the roofline each side of the car Not actually on the roof but above the doors. I didn't bother taking it back to the dealer as I suspected this was due to vandalism as I couldn't think how else they could have got there. They certainly weren't there when I picked the car up from new. The dents were almost round and about the size of the ball end of a small hammer. Fortunately the paint finish wasn't broken.I took the car to a specialist repairer locally and watched them remove the dents. This cost me £200. The car is now just over 3 years old and the dents haven't re-appeared.

Just a thought, they're not from having a advert board fitted are they ? you see a lot of cars these days with an advert board fitted in that sort of location

I've got exactly the same problem, I thought it had been damaged from an external source , I haven't taken it to Honda as I wouldn't get anywhere with it.

Hi every one, I bought my hrv in September 2015 one of the first when I picked the car up & done a pre collection check I noticed about 3 small dents on the roof line just above the drivers door & between the rear passenger door, but running your hand over them there is very little feeling of indentation but catching the sun light correctly still shows them.
I have noticed now that they are on the near side above the doors ,again if you catch the sunlight right.
I first thought it was vandalism, I do NOT allow my car to be washed & has never been washed by anybody except me I do all the detailing myself & use a high quality wax imported from the USA this is how I noticed in the light these imperfections.
After seeing these reports & photos some members have supplied there must be manufactured or shipping problem.
Also has any body else had a leaking roof( ( see my posting on this) .
Other then these things the car is very reliable, very economical & tickes all my boxes so I'm keeping for a while longer, just see what Honda models or improvements are coming over the next couple of years will miss the £20 a yearroad tax though!

I have a 68 plate, with dents along roof edge above doors, been repaired once, but have reappeared, dealer refuses to repair under warranty, says outside influences have caused it! Any one any ideas?

Mine is a September 65 reg and was one of the first imported and used as a demonstrator until December when I purchased it with 400 miles on the clock.
It was a few weeks later when I noticed the two dents, one on each side towards the rear of the panel. I tried to take photo's but the dents were hardly noticeable. As I had not noticed them on delivery or even soon after, I never complained to the dealership. Probably just as well as they would have no doubt fobbed me off just as they have with stop/start and low battery complaints.
