Auto stop/start

Post by PJM1959 » Thu Oct 17, 2019 6:16 am

My auto stop/start isn't working, even after a long run. Ac is off. All I get is the stop/start symbol with a line through it and a battery picture. Does anyone know what the problem is and how it can be rectified?

Thanks

Peter

Lots of threads both here (https://www.hrvforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=289 for example) and also on the http://clubjazz.org/forum which also covers the HR-V.

Welcome to the club! Is that a recent build HR-V or an older one?

The main discussion about the problem is at https://www.hrvforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=289 with discussion about the low battery at https://www.hrvforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=805 .

Some people have managed to get their battery replaced although my battery was declared fine when I left it with the dealers for a couple of days at the end of last winter. In my case, the battery voltage drops over a few days to around 12.1V if the vehicle isn't use and that's too low to tick one of the boxes when the engine is started. That check isn't done again until the engine is next started which could be a couple of hours later. My work-around is to charge the battery for a few hours if the HR-V hasn't been used. I'm tempted to replace the battery (3.5 years old) but don't want to discover that the underlying problem is elsewhere in the vehicle.

PS: For some reason the forum software is failing to automatically recognise links. Copy the text between and and paste into the browser address bar.
