Who has changed their original HRV?

Post by alanhr-v » Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:35 pm

Well there are a few on this forum that have had their HRV for over three years now. Who has changed it for another HRV?

I have changed my Manual HRV EX petrol for an ex demo CVT HRV EX petrol as I needed an automatic due to health reasons and very pleased with it.

I have had 2 previous HRV's since Sept 2016 now on my 3rd - Reg June 2018 on a personal plate. Previous Hondas include CRV for 11 years. Accord prior to that for approx 2 years (this was an ex demo) all other Hondas have been new.
All HRV's have been the -V 1.5 i-VTEC EX CVT (1st in Modern Steel, both the current and previous in Morpho Blue)

Mine's gone - I've moved over to the dark side (Mazda).

Must admit I've been very disappointed with mine, and with the local dealer, and with Honda themselves.

I've also found there is no point contacting the customer help/complaints department. The girl on reception makes the decisions, and she don't want to know!

Issues with mine included;

Rattling dashboard
Horrible sticking starter motor noise on starting
Infotainment system continually crashing
Oil level warning light keeps coming on, even though level is spot on
Fuel injector unit fails, 3 weeks out of warranty

Won't be replacing mine with another one. Sick of being fobbed off by Dealership and Honda are a waste of time.
Mine has just been back for two days re battery low voltage. Complete waste of time.
Fob off number 2. Told them that tyre pressure light was lit on their curtesy car even though pressures were perfect. Their response, "oh they do that in cold weather"

When my HR-V runs well I am very pleased with it. I had two batteries replaced but I believe that the start/stop problem was eventually fixed by other means. As I mention in a different post, I had so many electronic problems with the car that I was advised by my dealer to write to Honda who reacted well. They extended my warranty to 4 years including my breakdown cover and sent me a hamper by way of an apology.

I have just traded in my 3 year old 1.6 EX H-RV. I have gone back to a C-RV but this one is the new Hybrid version.
Being a hybrid I have lost a gear stick and now have push buttons instead ! The heater controls are now push switches again instead of the dodgy touch sensitive ones. Have now got Apple Car Play as well.

The H-RV served me well although after the 3 years the stop/start thing started to play up the week before I said goodbye to it.

I've got a couple of years left on a servicing deal for my manual petrol HRV and then I think I'll be moving to an electric car. Overall, I've liked my HRV but it's not without its problems.

Positives
Good fuel efficiency.
Brilliant flexible seating when you need to lug stuff around.
Standard safety features are excellent compared to other brands.
Comfortable.
Reliable.
Dipping left side mirror is handy (wish it did that on right side too).

Negatives
Start/Stop hardly ever works.
Sticky starter engine noise sometimes.
Infotainment system is unreliable and just really, really poor.
Heating control touchscreen is just damn dangerous.
Lack of some features on mine such as parking assist pack and cameras has become frustrating. Wish I'd gone for a top of the range one (& automatic).
Lack of hybrid or electric options means I simply can't consider another HRV (Honda have been really slow on electrifying their range).

I'm considering waiting for Polestar to arrive or go for a Jaguar iPace or Tesla Y.

Took delivery of my second HR-V yesterday!
It's another diesel SE, but this one comes with SatNav, Privacy Glass in the rear windows, AND a Reversing Camera!
Geoff in York driving a (19) Blue Diesel SE!

Previously, had 4 Jazzes - 1 #1 & 3 #2's, and a (66) White HR-V SE Navi diesel!

I changed my HRV I.6 EX Morph Blue pearl, 2016 for a 2019 HRV EX in Platinum White Pearl,
I loved my last one , also I couldn't fault "Vertu Honda Stockton" their service was excellent and always made me feel valued.
The new car is excellent a few more subtle tweaks full LED lights , seats, colour coded body trims nicer alloys.
