Windscreen Chip Repair

Post by ASB112 » Thu Jul 08, 2021 12:16 pm

Just finished driving down the M60 and got a small 2mm chip on windscreen, small cracks either side.

Honda Swansway want to replace the whole windscreen and will not do a fix, I'd rather get a resin fix? Phoned around, found one says 30-40mins £42.

But youtube found how to do it myself?

Quick search on internet loads up far too many products to go for?

In Halfords with decent reviews there is a rain-x repair kit for £10?

Anyone used a self repair kit or tried it or point us in a direction for a suitable self repair product?

Have you looked to see if you have Windscreen Repair on your cars insurance?

Some insurers do not charge for repairs, only if the windscreen requires replacing. Typically, I've just swapped over insurers and whereas my previous insurer did not charge for a repair, my new insurer, charges £10, and £75 for a Replacement.

Windscreen repairs or replacements do not affect your premium.

Thanks for that, I completely forgot about cars insurance, as I've never had to do it before. Just arranged it. There charging me £15, cheaper than quote and £5 more than the hassle of doing it myself,

But to compound my misery, I've just kerbed and chipped my passenger side alloy, whilst looking to the right on a left hand bend, 9not paying attention on a Sunday morning) after 8 months in the car too.
