Infotainment scrren suddenly switched off and rebooted

Post by Turnipmadras » Sat Nov 14, 2020 12:58 pm

I was driving along today listening to music on USB memory when there was a sudden buzzing and the screen went black. After a few secong a Honda sign appeared and the unit started to re-boot. Seemed to work fine once finished re-booting.
Not sure what happen, whether it was a glitch or issue with the memory stick.
Anyone else had a similar issue?
It's a 2018 model.

The only time my HR-V's infotainment system (which always had a music flash drive plugged in) misbehaved was when it took a very long time to start. This was, conveniently, just before the annual service and I mentioned it to the dealer who noted that there was an software update to address this problem which would be applied as part of the service. These updates, however, are not applied unless problems are reported perhaps, I wonder, due to losing settings or causing other problems.

The fact there was a buzzing noise just before it rebooted MAY indicate a loose power connection somewhere.

I had occasional issues with the screen going blank when I selected reverse on my previous vehicle, but I never heard any strange noises when it did it.
