Security Alarm sounding

Post by Tricks » Sun Jun 14, 2020 6:35 am

I’m coming up to my three years with this car and now suddenly my car alarm goes off in the middle of the night for no apparent reason! It’s done it three nights in a row now. I now have to go and unlock the car open and close doors and lock it all up and it will stop.

Has anyone had this problem and if so how was it fixed or what was the reason for it?

Thanks

Don't know where you or the OP live, but car dealerships around me are closed and are officially only supposed to carry out servicing and repairs to those classed as Essential Workers.

Have you checked for anything inside, fly, wasp etc, had something similar and found a rather large nocturnal "bug" in the car.

@Hadleys Taxi.

I just received an email from my dealer asking me to book it in for its next service!
Seems like things may be easing off a little.

I would add that the HR-V has an ultrasonic internal alarm so any significant movement inside the vehicle can trigger it. Mine was once triggered by the dashcam falling off the windscreen.

@Geoffers, unfortunately it is different rules in Scotland. We are officially still restricted to travelling no more than 5 miles. I'll let you decide for yourself if that is actually the case...

@Tricks

Some things to think about;

Set up a video camera or an old moblie to record your car to see if it picks up anything obvious.

Other things to consider, are all the windows fully up, and it is not wind that is setting it off?
Do you live near a railway line and it is a recently introduced late night freighter or train setting it off?
Is there any late night work taking place near you and their vehicles/equipment is setting it off?
Kids, or neighbours pranking you?
As others have said, ensure there is nothing hanging loose in the vehicle; dangly air freshener, flipping dream catcher or CD to deflect/disrupt speed cameras et al, that is causing it.
Possibly a cheap OBD reader to see if it can pick anything up?
Have you had your car serviced, or other work carried out on it recently?

Best of luck resolving it.

Regards,

HT

I know it's not the case Hadleys Taxi.
A friend of mine drove up to Glasgow last week, to part-ex his car for a new one at a national dealership there ! He drove back to York the same day!!!

Well that is what I would do if I had problems. No point in having after sales if they are not used.
